In my project I had to use a lot of critical thinking. Art isn't something that you can just look at and expect to understand. In order for somebody to really understand art you have to think about it and have an open mind. I personally experienced that while working with my mentor. I thought that art can only perceived as "art" if only it was painted or drawn or sculpted but after looking at some pieces and thinking critically, I realized that everything that has been made can be considered art. For example, a person responsible for creating something, intentionally made it the way it is to make it stand out from the rest, or they put a certain design on there to catch your eye, and so isn't that what art is? a creation from somebody's mind to look a certain way, just the same way an art piece in a museum does. that also challenged my creativity because I tried to understand the different point of views that people might have on art and that's how I stumbled upon this point of view I mentioned before that I know see through and again not to mention that this couldn't have been done without the people I worked with throughout this project. Its better to get a bunch of thoughts and ideas to get a better feel on peoples perspectives.
The thing I gained from this capstone project is knowledge. I used it to better understand the art realm that I want to go into to see if it's for me or not, so I think think personally I gained insight into my possible future career. socially, I feel like I can be out of my comfort zone a little bit more now because, art is all about guessing. there really is no right or wrong answer when talking about art but the thing is, for me, I don't like saying wrong things so I wouldn't want to speak up on art since I didn't know if people had the same thought. This project helped me break that hesitation and feel more confident on speaking on art. and finally, not to point out the obvious, but I learned a lot about art by research, I became intellectually smarter on art. researching all these things about ancient civilizations, map making, historical paintings and even working with my mentor brought new knowledge to me that I wouldn't have found out unless I went out go search for it.
All of the challenges that I faced throughout this project overcame itself with time. As time progressed, I felt more confident in myself. As I mentioned before, I was shy starting out and didn't want to be called out as being wrong but as time went on, I realized that art is a broad field where anything goes. There is no right or wrong answer only your thoughts and point of view. I think the key to overcoming my problems was to keep an open mind for all things so you get various views and you can make up what people believe or think.
Through this project, I think that when I was challenged, it brought on new ideas, a new light for me to see through, so I don't necessarily think that challenges are bad, they bring a good outcome but you need time to analyze your situation and sure enough you'll overcome them.

Day 7
(4/27)
I figured that today was my last day working with my mentor. so I decided to try to come up with an outline for my presentation on what ideas I should bring up before meeting up with my mentor. For the most part he approved on the stuff I had written. I will try to infuse what I did with my research and what I learned here to show how art is important. I decided not to follow my mentor in the tour guide because I have done that several times already. Instead I used their research library that they had their till closing time and thanked my mentor.

Day 6
(4/20)
Today I went to go work with my mentor again. I know my time with my mentor is coming to an end so I'm trying to use him for resource as much as possible. I was able to see some interesting old stuff that the had in their archives although I forgot to take pictures of it. I remember that I did see some maps, things called land grants, which basically are self explanatory and more. not having much to do, I went to go look and possibly gain information on the things they had on exhibition.

Day 5
(4/13)
coming closer to finishing my time with my mentor, i decided to ask my mentor for help on my presentations. I asked what points I should bring up and what should I try to show my audience. we have been running through a couple ideas on what to should do, but nothing is set in stone yet. today, I went on my last tour guide with my mentor knowing that you can only gain so much knowledge from repeating tour guides. since time is getting closer for me to present, i need another source of information. I have been told about some book but I will have to check them out myself.

Day 4
(4/6)
Today I went on another tour guide with my mentor, trying to absorb as much information as I could about art I noticed that while we went around to talk about art, things that I never considered to be "Art" was art. Thankfully I have an open mind so It really changed my perspective on what really is art. I believe that art is anything that is creative and somebody put thought into it. I later went to talk to my mentor about my new found idea on art and we agreed that almost anything can be considered art, it just all depends on your point of view since art is so broad. I really want to show that the broadness of art can really define somebody's point of view on what is and isn't art.

Day 3
(4/5)
Today was a short day that I went to work with my mentor since it was my birthday. for the most part on this day I just talked with my mentor and what I wanted to bring in to my presentation. I think that I have decided to infuse what I learned here with my own point of view of art. Besides this I have been looking at books and doing online research in order to help me decide what I want to put into my presentation.

Day 2
(3/30)
taking advantage spring break I went again to the museum again. I met up with my mentor again today and this time I got onto one of his tours trough the museum. the tour was time consuming but really interesting. I'm not so much focused on what a tour guide does but more into what he says about the art. The reason why I chose a tour guide to be my mentor is to understand art in an easier way, since all they do is talk about art. unfortunately for me, I didn't take too much notes on what he said so I will probably be doing that next time I am able to take a tour. we later talked and I asked him questions about certain pieces we pasted by, then I left at closing time.
